The top two candidates for Pasadena’s District 7 council seat will continue fighting for another month, after both failed to receive enough votes to win Tuesday night’s primary outright.

Appointed Councilman Andy Wilson will face challenger Phil Hosp again during a run-off election scheduled for April 18.

In Pasadena, a candidate must receive more than 50 percent of the votes avoid a run-off. Wilson and Hosp received 44 percent and 42 percent, respectively, according to unofficial election results.

The other three candidates, now out of the running, split the remaining 14 percent.

While the two campaigns estimate several hundred provisional ballots have yet to be counted, it’s nearly impossible for those votes to push either candidate past the threshold
